TMIC is honoured to celebrate and congratulate Dr. Ryland Giebelhaus, who recently completed his PhD in the Harynuk Node at the University of Alberta and The Metabolomics Innovation Centre. His doctoral research focused on mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and how our environment and diet shape human metabolism. His work also included developing new data processing pipelines to enhance metabolomics studies.
Dr. Giebelhaus was awarded the 2025 Graduate Student Award in Honour of Walter Harris. This a prestigious recognition celebrating excellence in analytical chemistry. This award reflects both the scientific impact and innovation of their graduate work.
As of July, Dr. Giebelhaus has joined the University of Victoria as an Assistant Professor, where his research will focus on chemometrics and multidimensional liquid (LCxLC-MS) chromatography for metabolomics. The Geibelhaus group will develop new data tools while applying this powerful technology to study metabolism across diverse biological systems.
